Program Overview:
The Reading London study abroad program takes students to one of the world’s most dynamic
cities to focus on the study and teaching of British literature. In the process of learning about
literature, students also engage with the culture, history and character of England as conveyed by
the city of London. Undergraduate and graduate students are welcome, although the program is
designed with undergraduates in mind.
Dates:
The Reading London program takes place mid-May to mid-June. For reference, dates for the
2012 program are 14 May - 17 June.
Beyond the Program
Students have the opportunity to explore London and beyond on their own when not involved in
program study and activities. There’s something for everyone in London: historical monuments,
royal palaces, world-renowned museums, performances and concerts, street fairs, musicals and
plays, sporting events, shopping, restaurants, parks. In the past, students have toured the Tower of London, caught a show in the West End, shopped at Portobello Market, traveled to the cities of Edinburgh (Scotland), Paris (France) and Dublin (Ireland), attended performances at St Martin-in-the-Fields and the English National Opera and eaten lunch in Brick Lane and Chinatown.
