Welcome to the Center for Literacy Education and Research's website!  Formally known as the Purdue Literacy Network Project, we are excited and proud to announce the establishment of the Center for Literacy Education and Research (CLEAR) at Purdue University's College of Education.

 MISSION

 VISION

The Center for Literacy Education and Research will provide high quality professional development for teachers and administrators that will ensure all P-12 students are able to read and write independently, providing them with a strong foundation for academic preparation and lifelong learning.

CLEAR will accomplish this mission by:

  • Assisting schools in comprehensive reform efforts that result in improved teacher performance and higher student outcomes.

  • Assuring teachers are equipped with the understanding and expertise necessary to address the unique needs of low-achieving literacy learners.

  • Creating high quality professional development to respond to the changing needs in teachers’ efforts to serve all students.

The Center for Literacy Education and Research will provide the requisite leadership and foundational knowledge to be the premier resource for literacy professional development and scholarly inquiry at state, national, and international levels.

CLEAR will orchestrate efforts to build capacity in districts for improved teacher performance with concomitant higher student literacy achievement and stronger instructional leaders who value comprehensive change.
