Letter of Introduction

This letter is meant to introduce you to your supervising teacher at your assigned school. It must be typed and free of spelling and grammatical errors. For format suggestions, see below. 

Provide two copies of this letter to your EDCI 205 instructor during the third meeting of the class and, if requested, one copy to your EDCI 285 instructor.

Paragraph 1: Describe where you are from and your outside interests (do not begin by telling your name!). Describe past experiences that have influenced your choice of teaching as a potential career. Write about courses you have taken that fit your career goals.

Paragraph 2: Indicate that you are looking forward to your practicum experience in the schools. Clearly indicate three or four things you want to do during this experience ( e.g. work with an individual student or small group, assist in marking or recording grades, use some technology, prepare a lesson for the whole class, etc.).

Paragraph 3: Tell the teacher you have been informed that it is important to be professional in dress and manner, to arrive in the classroom on time, and to notify the teacher of any absence from the class. Indicate that you plan to abide by the school rules of conduct.  Thank him/her for accepting you as a student in his/her class and indicate that you are looking forward to your first visit.
