The purpose of this assignment is to help you become aware of professional
organizations and learn what you can expect from your future community of
professionals.
Part I: The following websites deal with professional issues
that effect all teachers. Some of these issues
include employment, salary, and benefits; voucher system; safety and
discipline; diversity; and the purposes of schooling. Investigate one of
these issues by examining the websites listed below. Describe the

Part II: The following websites deal with professional matters
that are associated with the teacher's subject area interests. In most
cases there is not a separate organization for elementary and secondary
educators. For example, the National Science Teachers Association
welcomes all science educators k-16. They address the needs of the
various levels of instruction through separate journals that members may elect.
·
If you are an elementary education major, then
choose one or more subject areas, investigate the associated
web sites, choose one subject area, and answer the questions about one
of the organizations in that subject area.
·
If you are majoring in a secondary subject area,
then go to that area, investigate all the web sites listed and answer the
following questions about one organization.
