The purpose of this paper is to help you establish a clear statement of what you believe about teaching and learning and your vision of best practice in education.  In your paper you will complete the following statements:

2.      I believe teachers can best help students learn by...

3.      I believe teachers can address student differences by...

4.      I believe the very best teaching practices include...

5.      I believe teachers can create safe and effective learning communities by...

      Your philosophy should consist of the above series of belief statements. Each belief must be described in terms of its connection to your personal experience (prior education, class discussions, and field experience).  In addition, you must develop the scholarly basis for each of your beliefs by citing ideas and examples gleaned from course readings  (see the EDCI 205/285 narratives and course packet) and films. Use APA style; in addition the full list of references, including references for films used in class, is in the syllabus.
