Educational Specialist Degree (EdS)

The Educational Specialist degree is awarded upon successful completion of an organized sixth-year program and requires a minimum of 30 hours of graduate preparation beyond the typical master's degree plus a 3-hour research project. Students in Literacy and Language Education usually focus their coursework in one primary area and in one or two related areas. Educational Specialist programs are highly personal and planned individually between the student, the major professor, and the committee.
