Research interests include focusing on students' conceptions of and ways of reasoning about science phenomena; the role social interaction plays in students' meaning making and thinking about science phenomena. This research looks at students' conceptual frameworks and how they are challenged and restructured by encounters with science phenomena and data derived from science investigations. It incorporates students' self-produced science journals as a meaning making tool and resource.
