
Master's and doctoral programs in Consumer and Family Sciences and Extension Education provide advanced preparation for educators whose focus is on family life, work life, and careers in family and consumer sciences. Educators prepared in these programs work in various settings including:
Doctoral students also may prepare to be teacher educators or college teachers in family and consumer sciences education. Programs of study are designed to address individual needs and interests through a combination of advanced studies in professional education and in selected content areas in the School of Consumer and Family Sciences, such as Child Development and Family Studies.
Students may include an emphasis on adult education in their plan of study. With additional course work it is possible to meet the requirements for teacher certification along with a graduate degree.
